Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about DogeGiFty

What is DogeGiFty?

DogeGiFty is a crypto gifting platform built on Ethereum. You can create a gift pack with any tokens, seal it with a secret code, and share the code with anyone you want to surprise. Only the person with the code can claim the gift.

Do I need a wallet to send a gift?

Yes, you need a Web3 wallet like MetaMask to create and lock a gift pack. The recipient also needs a wallet to claim it.

What networks does DogeGiFty support?

DogeGiFty currently operates on Ethereum mainnet. Make sure your wallet is connected to the Ethereum network when creating or claiming a gift.

Is DogeGiFty available on mobile?

DogeGiFty is web-based and designed for desktop browsers. That said, you can also use it on mobile through the built-in browser of your favorite crypto wallet, no app download required.

Do I need to know the recipient's wallet address?

No, that's one of the key features of DogeGiFty. You just share a secret code. The recipient connects their own wallet and claims with the code.

What tokens can I include in a gift pack?

Any ERC-20 token in your wallet, plus ETH. We recommend including a maximum of 10 tokens per gift pack for gas efficiency.

What happens after I create a gift pack?

Your tokens are locked in a smart contract escrow. They stay there safely until someone uses the secret code to claim them.

Can I cancel or reclaim my gift?

Yes, if you have the secret code yourself you can always use it to reclaim your own gift pack.

Is DogeGiFty safe?

Yes. The smart contract has been audited and verified on Etherscan. It is fully trustless with no admin, no owner, and no one who can interfere with your gift.

Why does my wallet show a security warning?

Some wallets may show a Blockaid security warning for DogeGiFty. This is because the contract is recently deployed and not yet widely recognized. The contract is fully verified on Etherscan, fully trustless with no admin keys. You can safely proceed.

What is DogeGF and why is it featured?

DogeGF is the token at the heart of the DogeGiFty ecosystem, built around a philosophy of kindness and reciprocity. DogeGiFty is the first platform powered by DogeGF.

What are the fees?

DogeGiFty charges no platform fees. You only pay Ethereum network gas fees for creating and claiming gift packs.

Are refunds available?

DogeGiFty is a fully decentralized platform. Once a gift pack is locked in the smart contract, we have no ability to intervene, reverse, or refund any transaction. If you change your mind, you can reclaim your own gift using the secret code at any time.

Can I send tokens directly to the contract address?

No, never send tokens directly to the contract address. They would be permanently lost. Always use the platform to create gift packs.

What happens if I cancel a transaction during gift creation?

If you cancel any transaction during the creation process, you will need to generate a new secret code and start again. This is intentional, it ensures the security of your gift pack.

What happens if I lose the secret code?

Unfortunately the gift cannot be claimed without the secret code. There is no recovery mechanism, this is by design to ensure only the intended recipient can claim. Always store the code safely before sharing it.

Can I gift to someone who does not have a wallet yet?

The recipient needs a Web3 wallet to claim the gift. If they do not have one yet, they can easily create a free one using MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet before claiming.

Can the same code be used twice?

No. Once a gift pack is claimed the code becomes invalid permanently. Each code works exactly once.

How long does a gift pack stay available?

There is no expiry on gift packs. The tokens stay locked in escrow until someone claims them with the correct code.

What is the claiming process?

Enter the secret code on the Claim Gift page, connect your wallet, reserve the claim with the first transaction, wait one block, then complete the claim with the second transaction. Two small transactions are required to protect against front-running bots.

Why does claiming require two transactions?

DogeGiFty uses a two-step security mechanism to prevent bots from stealing gifts. The first transaction privately reserves the gift to your wallet, and the second completes the claim. This ensures the gift always goes to the right person.

What happens if I close the browser during claiming?

Your reservation stays valid for approximately 50 minutes. Come back within that time, enter the same code, and complete the claim.

Can the sender see which wallet claimed the gift?

Yes, all transactions are public on the Ethereum blockchain. The sender can see the claiming wallet address on Etherscan.
